Camden Safeguarding Adults Board
The Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) is a statutory body set up under the Care Act 2014. Its role is to bring local organisations together to make sure adults in Camden are protected from abuse, neglect and harm, and that safeguarding work across the borough is coordinated and effective.
Safeguarding adults is everyone’s responsibility. Our new YouTube page dedicated to Safeguarding Adults has been launched to help raise awareness, provide practical guidance, and support individuals, professionals, and communities in recognising and responding to adult safeguarding concerns. Watch and subscribe to our Safeguarding Adults YouTube channel here to stay informed and help promote safer communities.
What the SAB does:
The Board works to ensure that:
- Strong safeguarding arrangements are in place, in line with the Care Act and national guidance
- Safeguarding practice is person‑centred, focusing on what matters most to the adult
- Partners work together to prevent abuse and neglect, not just respond to it
- Safeguarding practice continually improves, helping enhance the quality of life for adults in Camden
The SAB oversees local safeguarding work and brings together partners to share information, learn from cases and build a stronger system of protection and prevention.
Who is on the board?
Camden Council is responsible for establishing the SAB. The Care Act requires three statutory organisations to be core members:
- Camden Council
- NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board
- The Metropolitan Police (Chief Officer of Police)
To carry out its duties effectively, the Board also works with a wide range of other agencies. These partners are invited to join based on their role in supporting and protecting adults across Camden.
Our Core Duties:
All Safeguarding Adults Boards must:
- Publish a strategic plan setting out priorities and how partners will work together
- Publish an annual report showing what has been achieved and the impact of safeguarding work
- Commission Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs) when an adult experiences serious harm or dies and there are lessons to learn
These documents, along with completed SARs, are available on the Camden Council website: Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board – Camden Council
