Adult Family Group Conferencing
A Family Group Conference or FGC is a different kind of meeting for the adult, family, friends and neighbours, and any other people close to an adult. The meeting supports them to talk about what is needed to support the adult and make their own plan of support. The conference gives the adult and their network space to make decisions and have a plan to better support them and their wellbeing.
A Family Group Conference can enable practitioners to recognise and work with the complexities within family networks. FGCs work with the strengths and support within the adult and their network to ‘unlock’ situations that can seem very stuck and difficult to improve.
Family Group Conferences are voluntary and facilitated by independent FGC Coordinators. The FGC Coordinator’s independence is important for adults where relationships with Adult Social Care and other professionals can become challenging.
We are keen to build on the positive outcomes that support adults in Camden to promote wellbeing and independence by identifying their strengths and resilience.
